​MECHANICAL / PERFORMANCE

I drove the car from Palm Springs back to Phoenix and it performed flawlessly. I then put it through a full computer mechanical check by one of my pro auto shops. It has passed AZ Emissions and there are no apparent mechanical issues. Cooling system flushed, fresh synthetic oil and filter., along with other maintenance as needed (belts, hoses, other fluids, etc.) New battery. New washer fluid reservoir and pump.

The legendary 4.6-liter V8 engine produces 220 horsepower, 265 pound-feet of torque with 9:1 compression and a top speed of 126 mph. Car does 0-60 in 9.5 seconds, quarter mile drag in 16.9 seconds. Not bad for a 4000 lb. beast that still gets 24 mpg average highway. And it has the rugged and dependable 4R70W automatic overdrive transmission. .

Parts are easily available for these last generation Town Cars and will be for years to come, because there are thousands still on the road. They have extremely reliable drive trains and with regular maintenance you can drive them 300,000 miles or more, a storied longevity and cost-effectiveness rarely found in the history of American automobiles.​

INTERIOR

The roomy interior accommodates six and all their luggage in the huge 21-cubic-foot trunk. Signature Series appointments include leather seats, leather wrapped steering wheel, PB, PS, PW, PDL, 8-way power heated front seats, power mirrors, power sun roof, power trunk and gas tank release, tilt, cruise, multiple courtesy lights, vanity mirror lights, reading lamps. AM-FM-Casette-CD stereo with six-CD changer in trunk. The steering wheel is fitted with controls to operate the cruise, climate control, and stereo.

 

​Seats, door panels, headliner, dash, carpets, and all interior finishes are in very nice condition. All gauges, switches, lights, signals, climate control, cruise control, and window / seat / sunroof / rearview mirror motors are functional.​ Car comes with key fob and leather bound owners manual.

EXTERIOR

Body panels appear clean and straight. Stunning original paint is glossy and original pinstripes show no wear. Just one scuff on the front bumper. Chrome door handles and grille / bumper trim look sharp. Brand new headlamps have crystal clear light bezels. All glass and weather stripping are excellent. The 16” snowflake alloy wheels are pristine and wrapped with relatively new tires. I did not even detail this car for the photo shoot, just washed, towel dried, and vacuumed.

INVESTMENT

I focus on curating clean low mileage cars with few prior owners, a strategy I have stuck to for ten years on over 80 vehicles. These last generation Lincoln Town Cars have been "sleepers" but are now rising in value as they are considered modern classics. I am seeing them offered for sale in classic car dealerships for $15,000 to $25,000. In November 2023, an extremely low mileage example (1900 miles) hammered on Bring-A-Trailer for $63,000. Now's the time.
